# Cvent

> Connect Cvent to Conversion so event details, registrations, and check-ins sync into your field events.

Cvent connects by authorizing Conversion's Cvent app in your browser. Once connected, everything in [Field Event Platform Sync](/product-docs/campaigns/field-events/platform-sync/overview) applies; this page covers the connection and where Cvent behaves differently.

## Connect Cvent

**Prerequisites:**

* You are a workspace Administrator.
* You can sign in to Cvent as a **planner with the administrator role**. Cvent only lets planner administrators authorize an app.
* Your Cvent account is on Cvent's **North America** data center. Accounts hosted in Europe can't connect yet; contact your account team if that's you.

1. Open workspace **Settings** and go to the **Integrations** tab.
2. Find **Cvent** and click **Connect**.
3. You're taken to Cvent. Sign in and approve the access Conversion asks for: reading events, attendees, and contacts.
4. You're returned to Conversion. The card shows **Connected** once Cvent has answered a test request.

Conversion keeps its access to Cvent current on its own, so there's nothing to rotate. You never handle a client secret. Use **Disconnect** to remove the integration; connected field events keep their members but stop syncing.

<Info>
  If the connection fails right after approving, the approving user is usually not a planner administrator, or the access Conversion asks for was declined. Try again with an administrator.
</Info>

## Choosing an event

Cvent lists every event in the account, including virtual events and Cvent's own webinar types. You can connect any of them, but attendance on a field event is a check-in, so a virtual event only shows attendance if you check people in on Cvent. Use a [webinar](/product-docs/campaigns/webinars/overview) for sessions that should track join times.

Search by title needs at least three characters.

## Registration and attendance

Cvent has no notifications for attendees, so Conversion reads changes on an **hourly** sync. A registration made on Cvent appears in Conversion within the hour.

| On Cvent                                      | In Conversion                                          |
| --------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------ |
| Attendee status **Accepted** | Your **Registered** status |
| **Waitlisted**                                | Your **Waitlisted** status                             |
| **Pending Approval** | Your **Pending Approval** status, if the type maps one |
| **Checked in**, whatever the attendee status | Your **Attended** status |
| **Cancelled** or **Denied Approval** | Removed from the event |
| **Declined**, **No Response**, or **Visited** | Ignored. Not a registration. |

Guests of a registrant, meaning plus-ones added under someone else's registration, are not brought in. Only the primary attendee becomes a member.

## Event details

Cvent fills in every event detail, including the format (in-person, virtual, or hybrid), whether registration is open, the event's lifecycle status, the venue and address, the planner as organizer, and capacity. Rescheduling on Cvent is picked up on the next hourly sync or by **Re-sync**.

## Troubleshooting

| Problem                                                | Likely cause                                                                                                                                          |
| ------------------------------------------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| The connection fails after approving in Cvent | The approving user isn't a planner administrator, the requested access was declined, or the account is on the European data center. |
| An event is missing from the picker | It's already connected to another field event, or the search is under three characters. |
| A registrant on Cvent isn't in Conversion | They're a guest under someone else's registration, their status is one Conversion ignores, they have no email address, or the hourly sync hasn't run. |
| Someone checked in on Cvent still shows **Registered** | Check-ins arrive on the hourly sync. Click **Re-sync** on the event to pull them in now. |
| The Cvent card no longer shows **Connected** | Cvent revoked Conversion's access, usually because the authorizing user lost the administrator role or left. Reconnect with a current administrator. |
