# Public Files

> Upload files to Conversion and share them with a publicly accessible link.

Public files are assets or files you upload to Conversion that are **publicly accessible**. Every public file can be reached by anyone with its link.

<Warning>
  All public files should be considered publicly accessible. Anyone with the link can view the file, so only upload files you're comfortable sharing publicly.
</Warning>

<Note>
  You can set up your business domain and business slug in [Workspace Settings → Public files](/product-docs/workspace-settings/public-files/overview).
</Note>

## Viewing files

Public files are displayed in a table, with each file shown as a row. You can sort the table by:

* **Name**: alphabetical order.
* **Created at**: when the file was uploaded.
* **File size**: how large the file is.

## Uploading files

Click **Upload** and select a file from your computer. Each file has a **name** and a **slug** (the identifier used in its link); if you don't set a slug, it defaults to the file name. Slugs must be unique within your workspace.

### Supported file types

You can upload documents and images: `pdf`, `docx`, `csv`, `txt`, `html`, `odt`, `rtf`, `epub`, `json`, `jpeg`, `jpg`, `png`, `gif`, `webp`, and `svg`.

The maximum file size is **100 MB**. File contents are immutable after upload. You can rename a file or change its slug, but to change its contents you must upload a new file.

## Organizing files

Public files can be added to [folders](/product-docs/folders/overview) and campaigns, alongside your other assets, to keep them organized within your workspace.

## Sharing a file

Open a file and select **Share** to get its link. You can serve files from two kinds of origin:

* **Conversion's default domain**: `https://conversion-files.com/file/<fileId>`. Always available, no setup required.
* **Your own domain**: `https://<your-origin>/a/<your-slug>/<file-slug>`. Available once you've configured a custom domain.

To serve files from your own domain, set up your slug, verify your domain, and add an allowed origin in [Workspace Settings → Public files](/product-docs/workspace-settings/public-files/overview).
