# Emails Overview

> Send targeted, on-brand emails to your audience with Conversion's built-in email tools.

This is Conversion's built-in email sending and management feature. Use it to send targeted, on-brand emails to your audience. This can be a one-time newsletter blast, a nurture sequence, a workflow email, or any other communication your marketing team needs to run.

## Types of emails

There are two types of emails in Conversion:

### Blast emails

Blast emails are one-time sends to a specific audience or contact group. Use these for newsletters, product announcements, or any communication that goes out once to a defined audience or group of contacts. See [Blasts](/product-docs/emails/blasts/overview) for full details.

### Workflow emails

Workflow emails are sent automatically when referenced inside a Workflow. They fire based on a trigger or a schedule. This means the email goes out automatically during a contact's journey.

Use these for nurture sequences, action-based follow-ups, re-engagement campaigns, etc. See [Workflow Emails](/product-docs/emails/workflow-emails/overview) for full details.

## Key concepts

### Performance

Track open rates, click-through rates, bounce rates, and unsubscribe rates across all your active emails from the [Performance](/product-docs/emails/performance) tab.

### Email builder

All emails are built using Conversion's drag-and-drop email builder. You can build from scratch, start from a saved template, use a layout, or pick from a set of curated designs. See the [Email Builder](/product-docs/emails/email-builder/overview) documentation for full details.

### Recipients

Emails in Conversion are sent to recipients, not contacts directly. Recipients are deduplicated by email address and carry a subscription status that determines whether they can receive marketing emails. This is central to staying compliant with regulations like GDPR. See [Recipients](/product-docs/emails/recipients) for more.
