# Workflow Emails

> Emails that send automatically when referenced inside a Workflow in Conversion.

Workflow emails are emails that are referenced inside a Workflow and sent automatically when that workflow runs. Unlike blasts, workflow emails fire based on a trigger or schedule.

## How workflow emails differ from blasts

| **How it sends** | Manually, to a chosen audience   | Automatically, when a workflow runs     |
| **Send timing**  | One-time, immediate or scheduled | Trigger-based or scheduled via workflow |
| **Audience**     | Defined at send time             | Determined by the workflow              |

## Referencing a workflow email in a workflow

Once a workflow email is created, you can add it as an action step inside any workflow. Based on the workflow's trigger and contacts, the email send is handled.
