# LinkedIn lead generation forms

> Sync LinkedIn lead gen forms into Conversion.

Sync a LinkedIn lead generation form to bring new leads from that ad form into Conversion as contacts and form submissions. See [Lead generation forms](/product-docs/forms/lead-gen-forms/overview) for how leads are captured and how synced forms behave.

## Prerequisites

Before you sync a LinkedIn form:

1. Connect LinkedIn Ads Manager under [Ads settings](/product-docs/workspace-settings/ads/overview). The connected account must manage at least one ad account that has lead generation forms.
2. Confirm the connecting user has the [required permissions](#required-permissions) below.
3. Open **Forms** and use **New form** → **Sync a LinkedIn form**.

<Info>
  Sync options appear in the **New form** menu when lead generation forms are enabled for your workspace.
</Info>

## Required permissions

The user who connects LinkedIn in [Ads settings](/product-docs/workspace-settings/ads/overview) needs specific access on LinkedIn, not just "admin" in general. If a sync stops working, a permissions change is one of the most likely causes, so check these first.

The connected LinkedIn user must be one of the following roles on the **Company Page** associated with the ad account:

* **Super admin**
* **Content admin**
* **Lead Gen Forms manager**

<Warning>
  The Page role above is a different permission from ad account access. Having Campaign Manager or account access on the LinkedIn ad account does not give you a Page role, and vice versa: you need the Page role specifically to sync lead gen forms. Simply being able to connect the ad account doesn't confirm you have it.
</Warning>

<Tip>
  A Page's existing super admin can only grant someone the Lead Gen Forms manager (or any other admin) role if that person already follows the Page. If a teammate is missing from the role picker, have them follow the Page first, then add the role.
</Tip>

See [LinkedIn's Permissions for Lead Gen Forms](https://www.linkedin.com/help/lms/answer/a421620) for the full permissions matrix.

## Sync a LinkedIn form

1. Click **New form** → **Sync a LinkedIn form**.
2. Select an **Ad account**, then select the lead generation **Form** on that account.
3. Choose which form question maps to **Email**. Email is required so Conversion can identify contacts.
4. Optionally map other fields to Conversion contact or company fields. Leave a field blank to skip it. Use **Overwrite** on a mapped field if submissions should replace an existing value on the contact.
5. Click **Sync form**.

Conversion creates a form of type **LinkedIn lead generation form** in your Forms list.

## Test a submission

Submit a test lead from an existing LinkedIn ad that uses your synced form:

1. Open [LinkedIn Campaign Manager](https://www.linkedin.com/campaignmanager/).
2. In the sidebar, go to **Advertise**.
3. Open the **Ads** tab.
4. Click the **ad title** for an ad that uses the synced lead generation form.
5. Click the ad's **Learn more** or **Sign up** button to open the form.
6. Fill in the form with a test email and submit it.
7. Open the synced form in Conversion and check the **Submissions** tab. It can take a few minutes for the submission to appear.

<Tip>
  Use a unique test email each time so you can tell new submissions apart from earlier tests.

## Troubleshooting

| Issue                                                         | What to try                                                                                                                                                                     |
| ------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Sync fails, but the user can access the ad account | Ad account access and the Company Page role are separate. Confirm the user is a Super admin, Content admin, or Lead Gen Forms manager on the **Page**, not just the ad account. |
| Can't add a teammate as a Page admin / Lead Gen Forms manager | LinkedIn only allows this for people who already follow the Page. Have them follow the Page, then add the role. |
| Rate limit message | Wait a moment and try syncing again. |
| Leads not appearing after sync | Confirm the form is still synced, the email field is mapped, and new leads were submitted **after** the sync. See [Test a submission](#test-a-submission). |
