# Mosaic Overview

> See which marketing channels create pipeline and revenue with Mosaic, Conversion's multi-touch attribution.

Mosaic is Conversion's attribution product. It connects the marketing activity of your contacts (web visits, email clicks, event attendance, and ad leads) to the Salesforce opportunities they helped create and win, then splits each opportunity's value across the channels that touched it.

Use Mosaic to answer questions like:

* How much pipeline did marketing influence this quarter, and from which channels?
* Which channels show up most often before a deal closes?
* What share of new opportunities had any marketing touch at all?

> [!NOTE]
>
> Mosaic appears in the sidebar and in **Settings** only when it's enabled for your workspace. Ask your Conversion contact to turn it on.

## How Mosaic works

Mosaic builds every report from three pieces: goals, touchpoints, and an attribution model.

  A[Contact activity] --> B[Touchpoints]
  B --> C[Channels]
  D[Salesforce opportunities] --> E[Goals]
  B --> F[Credit]
  E --> F
  F --> G[Reports]
```
1. **Goals.** Each Salesforce opportunity can reach two goals: it's **created** (pipeline) and it's **won** (revenue). The opportunity's **Amount** is the value Mosaic splits.
2. **Touchpoints.** Mosaic turns tracked activity into touchpoints: website sessions, marketing email clicks, campaign successes (such as attending a webinar), and lead gen form submissions from your ad platforms.
3. **Channels.** Every touchpoint is assigned to a channel, such as Email, Paid Search, or Webinar, and optionally a subchannel, such as Paid Search › Google.
4. **Eligibility.** For each goal, Mosaic collects the touchpoints of the [eligible contacts](https://docs.conversion.ai/product-docs/mosaic/settings.md#eligible-contacts) that happened before the goal and inside the [attribution window](https://docs.conversion.ai/product-docs/mosaic/settings.md#attribution-window).
5. **Credit.** The [attribution model](https://docs.conversion.ai/product-docs/mosaic/key-terms.md#attribution-models) decides how the opportunity's value is split across those touchpoints. A goal with no eligible touchpoints is **unattributed**.
Reports calculate on demand from your current settings and current CRM data. When you change a setting, every report, including past periods, reflects it the next time it loads.
For the meaning of each term and metric, see [Key terms](https://docs.conversion.ai/product-docs/mosaic/key-terms.md).
## Pages
Go to **Mosaic** in the sidebar. The page has two tabs:
| Tab | What it shows |
| - | - |
| [**Overview**](https://docs.conversion.ai/product-docs/mosaic/reports.md#overview-tab) | Headline pipeline and revenue numbers compared with the previous period, credit by channel, credit over time, and your top channels. |
| [**Channels**](https://docs.conversion.ai/product-docs/mosaic/reports.md#channels-tab) | A table of every channel and subchannel with touchpoints, influenced companies and opportunities, and attributed credit. |
Click **Settings** in the top right to open [Mosaic settings](https://docs.conversion.ai/product-docs/mosaic/settings.md), where you control which activity counts and how it maps to channels.
## Report controls
The toolbar at the top of every Mosaic tab applies to all of its cards and tables.
| Control | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Date range** | The period the report covers. Defaults to **Last 90 days**. |
| **Model** | The [attribution model](https://docs.conversion.ai/product-docs/mosaic/key-terms.md#attribution-models) used to split credit. Defaults to your workspace's [default model](https://docs.conversion.ai/product-docs/mosaic/settings.md#default-model). Changing it here applies to this page only. |
Some cards and tables add their own controls:
| Control | Options | What it does |
| - | - | - |
| **Goal** | **Pipeline**, **Revenue** | Shows credit toward opportunities created, or toward opportunities won. |
| **Date basis** | **By created date** or **By close date**, and **By touch date** | Decides whether the date range filters by when the opportunity was created or won, or by when the touchpoint happened. See [Date basis](https://docs.conversion.ai/product-docs/mosaic/key-terms.md#date-basis). |
### Date range presets
| Preset | Covers |
| - | - |
| **Last 7 days**, **Last 30 days**, **Last 90 days** | That many days, ending today. |
| **Last 6 months**, **Last 12 months** | The last 183 or 365 days, ending today. |
| **This month**, **This quarter**, **Year to date** | From the start of the current period to today. |
| **Last month**, **Last quarter**, **Last year** | The whole previous period. |
You can also pick a custom range on the calendar. Reports cover whole days.
> [!TIP]
>
> The date range, model, goal, and date basis are saved in the page URL. Copy the URL to share exactly what you're looking at. A preset like **Last 30 days** keeps rolling forward, so the link always shows the latest 30 days.
