# Creating Contacts

> Add new contacts to Conversion manually or import them in bulk from a CSV file.

You can add new contacts to Conversion in two ways directly from the Contacts page: creating a contact manually or importing contacts from a CSV file.

<Info>
  Contacts also enter Conversion automatically through [Salesforce sync](/product-docs/sync/salesforce/setup/sync-preferences), [form submissions](/product-docs/forms/overview), and [workflow actions](/product-docs/workflows/overview).
</Info>

## Creating a contact manually

To create a single contact:

1. From the **Contacts** page, click **+New contact** in the top-right corner.

2. The **Create contact** panel opens with a set of fields to fill in.

3. Fill in the required fields:
   * **Email** \[The primary identifier for the contact]
   * **Last Name**
   * **Company Name**

4. Optionally fill in additional fields

### Syncing to Salesforce

At the top of the create contact form, there is a **Sync contact to Salesforce** checkbox. When enabled, the contact is created as a lead in Salesforce (or matched to an existing record based on your [sync preferences](/product-docs/sync/salesforce/setup/sync-preferences)). When disabled, the contact exists only in Conversion.

<Note>
  New contacts created in Salesforce are assigned to the authenticated Salesforce user as the record owner.
</Note>

### Managing available fields

Click the **Manage fields** link at the top of the create contact panel to navigate to your workspace's [field settings](/product-docs/workspace-settings/fields/overview), where you can configure which fields are available, required when creating contacts, and its sync setting with Salesforce.

## Importing contacts from a CSV

To import contacts in bulk:

1. From the **Contacts** page, click **Import from CSV** in the top-right corner.
2. Select a CSV file from your computer.
3. Map the columns from your CSV to fields in Conversion. For each column in your CSV, you can:
   * Map it to a contact or company field in Conversion by selecting the matching field
   * Ignore it to skip that column entirely and not import its data.

<Tip>
  Ignoring unnecessary columns during import helps keep your contact data clean and avoids populating fields with irrelevant information.
</Tip>
