# Publishing and Versions

> Edit a draft, preview its impact, publish it, and manage a score's versions.

Every score has a **draft** where you make changes. Your edits save automatically, but contacts keep being scored with the live version until you publish.

## Publishing

Click **Publish** to make the draft live. Before publishing, you'll see how many contacts change tier, change score, or start or stop being scored.

When you publish:

* A new version is saved.
* Every contact in the score is re-scored with the new version on the next run.
* If the score is paused, publishing turns it back on.

  Issues in your rules or settings block publishing. Click the warning icon next to **Publish** to see what needs fixing.

To throw away your draft changes, open the **⋮** menu and click **Discard changes**.

## Comparing versions

Click **Compare** to see what changes between two versions, such as your draft and the live version. The comparison shows how contacts move between tiers and scores, and a **Changes** tab lists every contact whose score changes.

Comparisons are calculated from current data, so they may differ slightly from the last scoring run.

## Version history

Open the **⋮** menu and click **Version history** to see every published version. From there you can:

* **View** a version's rules and settings. Past versions are read-only.
* **Compare** a version with the live version.
* **Restore** a version, which copies it into your draft. Publish the draft to make it live.

The score's name and output fields aren't part of a version, so restoring doesn't change them.

## Pausing, duplicating, and archiving

| **Pause scoring** | Status menu | Scoring stops. Values already written to fields are kept. When you resume, contacts are re-scored from current data, including activity from while it was paused. |
| **Duplicate**     | **⋮** menu  | Creates a new, unpublished score with the same rules and settings. Output fields aren’t copied.                                                                   |
| **Archive**       | **⋮** menu  | Stops scoring and moves the score to **Archived**. Restoring it brings it back paused.                                                                            |
| **Delete**        | **⋮** menu  | Permanently removes the score, its versions, and its history. Values already written to fields are kept.                                                          |
