Conversion AI does not edit your live emails, forms, or workflows directly. When you ask it to build or change one, it creates an artifact: a preview you review and then apply.

What gets an artifact

AssetArtifact created forNotes
Email blastsNew and editsEdits are only allowed while the blast is still in draft. Sent blasts can’t be edited.
Workflow emailsNew and edits
Email templatesNew and edits
FormsNew and edits
WorkflowsNew onlyExisting workflows can’t be edited through chat. To change a workflow, Conversion AI creates a new workflow you can swap to.
For everything else (audiences, campaigns, folders, contacts, fields, and renames), Conversion AI updates the asset directly, only after your approval. Those actions require approval instead.

States

StateDescription
PendingThe artifact has been created but not applied. Conversion AI can still revise it. You can also edit it directly in the artifact view.
AppliedThe artifact has been applied. Conversion AI can no longer revise it. Further changes require a new artifact.

Reviewing an artifact

When Conversion AI creates an artifact, a card appears in the chat with the artifact’s name, type, and status. Click the card to open a full-screen preview alongside the chat.
  • The preview is the same view you use to edit that asset type normally.
  • You can edit the artifact directly while it is Pending, even while Conversion AI is still working on it. Once it is Applied, the underlying asset takes over and the artifact is locked.
  • A bottom toolbar lets you apply the artifact when you’re ready.
If Conversion AI revises the artifact in a later message, the card updates in place. Each artifact has only one current version, not a stack of versions.

Applying an artifact

Apply behavior depends on the artifact type and whether it’s tied to an existing asset:
ArtifactApply behavior
New email (blast, workflow email, or template)Creates a new email asset. Blasts and workflow emails land in draft. Templates are saved directly to your template library.
Edit to an existing emailUpdates the existing email’s draft. The change isn’t live until you publish the draft.
New formCreates a new form in draft.
Edit to an existing formUpdates the existing form’s draft. The change isn’t live until you publish the draft.
New workflowCreates a new workflow in draft. You activate it yourself.
An applied artifact never goes live on its own. There’s always a manual publish, send, or activate step you control. After apply, the artifact is locked. To make further changes, Conversion AI creates a new artifact linked to the now-live asset.

Approval

Apply always requires approval. You’ll see an explicit prompt in the chat before the action runs:
Are you sure you want to create this email? Are you sure you want to overwrite this form with the artifact?
You can also apply an artifact yourself from the artifact view without prompting Conversion AI.

Multi-asset builds

When a single request implies several artifacts (for example, “set up a welcome series” might mean three workflow emails plus a workflow), Conversion AI usually creates them all in one turn, so you can review the full set together and apply them as a group.
