The Update Campaign Member node updates a contact’s campaign membership status in your connected CRM. Use it to track campaign progression — for example, changing a contact’s status from “Sent” to “Responded” after they take an action in your workflow.

Configuration

Behavior

  • The node executes once per contact as they pass through.
  • The campaign member status is updated before the contact advances to the next node.
  • If the contact is not already a member of the selected campaign, the behavior depends on your CRM configuration.

On a webinar

Selecting a webinar gives you its six webinar statuses, and setting a contact to Registered does more than record the status: if the webinar is connected to a platform like Zoom, Sequel, or Goldcast, the node registers the contact on that platform and waits for it to finish before the contact advances. That wait matters, because registering is what produces the person’s join link. An email placed after this node can include {{ campaign_member.webinar_url }} and know it will be populated. The node moves on without registering when the contact is already registered, or when the webinar isn’t connected to a platform. It skips the contact when the session has already ended or the contact has no email address. If the platform rejects the registration, the member is set to Registration Error so you can find and fix it.

Use cases

  • Campaign progression — update a contact’s status to “Responded” when they click a link or open an email in a nurture workflow
  • Attribution tracking — mark contacts as “Converted” when they reach a conversion step in the workflow
  • Sales visibility — update campaign status so your sales team can see engagement activity directly in the CRM
  • Webinar registration — set a contact to “Registered” on a webinar when they submit your registration form, signing them up on your webinar platform
